This website was built to be light. It loads no third-party scripts, shows no advertising, and stores nothing on your device until you have told us what you are comfortable with. This page explains, in plain language, the few cookies that do exist — and how to change your answer at any time.
In short
- Until you answer the cookie notice, this site stores nothing on your device at all.
- The only cookies we set are the ones that remember your answer. They are set by this website itself, they hold nothing that identifies you, and they last twelve months.
- There is no advertising, no profiling and no cross-site tracking here — and, at the time of writing, no analytics either.
What a cookie is
A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to keep, so that something can be remembered from one page to the next, or from one visit to the next. Cookies can be entirely useful — remembering a preference, so you are not asked twice — and they can be intrusive, when their purpose is to follow people from site to site. The law treats the two differently: the first kind may be necessary for a site to work, while the second needs your permission first. Similar technologies, such as your browser’s local and session storage, work in much the same way and are covered by this policy too.
The cookies this site sets
When you answer the cookie notice — whichever way you answer it — the site writes that answer down, so it does not have to ask again on every page you open. That is what the following cookies are for, and it is all they are for.

All of them are first-party: they are set by this website, and no one else can read them. None of them contains your name, your email address or anything else that identifies you — each one holds a category and a yes or a no. They are written whether you accept or decline, because in both cases it is the answer that needs remembering.
Measurement, and why the notice asks
The notice asks whether we may measure how the site is used. We ask because we would like to know which pages people actually find useful. At the time of writing, though, no measurement is in place: there is no Google Analytics, no tag manager and no other statistics tool on this site, so no statistics cookies are set — whichever way you answer. Your answer is kept so that if measurement is introduced later, it starts from the choice you already made instead of asking you afresh.
What this site does not do
- No advertising, remarketing or profiling cookies.
- No third-party tracking pixels or tags.
- No social media trackers. The Instagram, LinkedIn and Facebook marks are ordinary links; nothing is loaded from those networks while you are here.
- No embedded players or maps belonging to other companies. The fonts, images and video on this site are served from this site, so opening a page does not announce your visit to anybody else.
Other things kept in your browser
Besides cookies, WordPress writes one entry into your browser’s session storage, named wpEmojiSettingsSupports. It records whether your browser is able to display emoji correctly. It holds no personal data, and it disappears the moment you close the tab.
Changing your answer
You can change your mind at any time, and you do not have to go looking for the setting. The button marked COOKIE POLICY in the bottom-left corner of every page reopens the notice, where you can accept, decline, or set each category on its own.
You can also delete or block cookies in your browser’s own settings — every major browser offers this under Privacy or Site settings. Blocking the cookies listed above changes nothing about how this site works; you will simply be asked for your answer again on your next visit.
Changes to this policy
If this site ever begins to use cookies for something new, this page is updated first, and the notice asks you again rather than assuming your earlier answer still holds. The date at the top of this page tells you when it last changed.
